Ordinary World, Duran Duran - This is a song for which I do not have any particular memory. For me, it just takes me back to high school. EVERY time I hear it. I am confident that all of my fellow old-timers have a few of those songs in their memory bank. Tunes that no matter when or where you hear them...they take you back to the same place and time in your life. I have this song on my iPhone, so Ill hear it occasionally when Im out running, or sitting on a plane, or sometimes Ill just hear it playing randomly in a grocery store or in an elevator. Sometimes I hear it when Im alone, and sometimes it comes on when Im in the middle of a group of people. But it doesnt matter. When I hear it, Im 17 years old, I dont know anything (even though I think I know everything), Im at a football game and on a movie date with Stacie and Im mowing the back yard and Im taking a Psychology test in Coughlins class and Im at KFC putting together a 2-piece chicken dinner for a customer and Im smelling the chlorine in the Community Center as I head in to swim practice after school and Im standing stage right in a long line ready to take the risers for another choir concert. But I wont cry for yesterday, theres an ordinary world, somehow I have to find. And as I try to make my way to the ordinary world, I will learn to survive. https://youtube/watch?v=dDLiVwpv89s
