Organist Alexander Schreiner Kicks It Being as children, [amateur church musicians] have a strong preference for what I call a sweet organ--may I call it an ice cream sunday organ--which gives out the quality of sweetness of a gum drop or an all-day-succor. This is the specialty of electronic organs which are produced mainly for non-musicians and tired businessmen who wish a little something to play when they come home tired from work. So our people often speak of the sweetness of an organ. In a like manner children tend to choose sweetness in their food and sometimes mistreat their stomachs. . . . . A good musician will prefer nobility to cloying sweetness. Alexander Schreiner to Charles Ursenbach, 7 February 1964
