Organized by Bishop Marius Sidau of the Societas Jesu Christi and Bishop Alistair Bate of the Holy Celtic Church this conference will be an opportunity for fellowship and forward planning with a view to conserving the heritage we have received and wish to pass on intact to future generations. Along with the Societas Jesu Christi and a few other jurisdictions the Holy Celtic Church maintains the position of most of the founders of the Liberal Catholic, Old and Independent Catholic churches of the 20th century in being both essentially Catholic - liturgically and theologically - yet non-judgmental and open-minded. In particular, we emerged from the Liberal Catholic tradition and the Liturgy of the Liberal Catholic Church is the normative rite in several of our oratories and parishes. The writings of Bishops Wedgwood and Leadbeater are still essential reading for our seminarians and with our partner churches we would consider ourselves faithful stewards and guardians of this tradition. However, into the 21st century, a multitude of Old Catholic and Independent Catholic jurisdictions, as well as a significant majority of Liberal Catholics, have abandoned true Catholicism altogether and are destroying our greatest treasure, without which we have nothing to offer, the Apostolic Succession. Radical feminist modernism has swept through the Independent Sacramental Movement leaving a liturgical wasteland where the sacramental validity of many churches is now often questionable to say the least. The modernists are often well organized and regrettably are fast becoming the most recognizable face of the Independent movement. We must not let this happen! It is high time that we liberal traditionalists put aside small differences and presented a united front. To this end the Holy Celtic Church is offering to host a gathering of like-minded friends at St Galls Retreat, Switzerland from the 7th to the 11th August 2015. Those who may wish to present a paper will be encouraged to do so. The five day event will include lectures as well as traditional liturgies and discussions on how we can work together to preserve, maintain and propagate our tradition for the 21st century. Participants will be welcome to stay longer than the 5 days of the conference if they so desire. The cost of full board accommodation is CHF50 per person per day.
