Original Painting by David Snyder on a Gibson Les Paul Guitar - TopicsExpress

Original Painting by David Snyder on a Gibson Les Paul Guitar A Gibson Les Paul Standard guitar with an original painting by artist David Snyder brought a jaw-dropping $105,000.00 at the Mecum Spring Classic Auto Auction. The full auction price was gifted to Curing Kids Cancer ™. In the days prior to the auction word of this unique piece of art spread quickly, the enthusiasm on the bidding floor was palpable. Automotive artist David Snyder approached the Gibson Foundation to create a one of a kind guitar. Snyder received a raw Les Paul “guitar in white” from Gibson. Preparation and execution of the original painting took about 100 hours. The guitar was returned to the Gibson Guitar Factory in Nashville to be finished. A custom Candy Apple Red translucent finish was applied to the back and neck and unique clear volume/tone knobs were installed creating an instrument like no other. Each car depicted in the painting on the guitar was part of the Mecum Spring Classic Collector Car Auction in Indianapolis. As is evident in the painting, artist David Snyder is a stickler for details. To ensure the colors are correct for the make, model and year of each car, he uses the automotive manufacturers paint chips for reference when mixing the paints. The biggest challenge was painting straight lines on the compound curves on the face of the guitar. David Snyder is a top selling automotive artist selling paintings and prints worldwide from his studio in Milford Ohio.
