Originally revealed in February, RAM has announced that production on the RAM 1500 Diesel will begin September 2013. The diesel powerplant is sourced from VM Motori and is much lighter than the Cummins six-cylinder currently found in heavy-duty RAM pickups. The 3.0-liter V6 diesel powerplant will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and should be rated at 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. The American automaker hasn’t announced final specifications yet.
