Originally we were going to go to the beach for our honeymoon. But as we have had such a long, hot summer here, we decided to go north instead. We went to Helen, Georgia for a few days. Helen is a re-creation of an alpine village complete with cobblestone alleys and old-world towers in beautiful White County and Southern Appalachian Mountains. We stayed at the Best Western, the picture below is of the actual room we stayed in, the king size bed was awesome. We had a private balcony and the fire place was wonderful on the cool evenings. Right next door to the hotel is a place called Bigg Daddys Restaurant & Tavern. I can not even begin to tell you how truly spectacular the food was there! We had Calamari with sweet Thai Chili dipping sauce that was fabulous. The fried green tomatoes, citrus shrimp, Apple Bottom Squealer and the chocolate-caramel-pecan cheesecake were mouth watering. If you ever get to Helen, be sure to eat there, you will not regret it!
