Oscar Pistorius Trial -- Verdict The verdict would have made sense if the Court had found that it accepted that, as a person suffering from General Anxiety Disorder, Oscar was gripped by sane automatism. This would have explained his actions and also why he was such a bad witness. People do act in this way as regards road rage cases which the courts have recognized. As things stand the approach of the court in this case was irrational in that it correctly accepted that he fired through a door into a confined space in which he knew there was a human being or human beings BUT did not foresee that he might kill anybody. This conclusion is only consistent with temporary insanity, but this was specifically excluded by all the psychological experts.
