Oscar Recap: Alright alright, alright.. we all know who won.. Heres a list of winners who could have won had the winners did not (in other words, who got 2nd) Best Picture- Had 12 Years a Slave not won, Gravity would have.. With 7 wins, it swept the tech aspects as well as won for Best Musical Score and Director.. Had the story itself been not as thin, it may have won the whole thing. Best Actor- Had Matthew McConaughey not won for Dallas Buyers Club, Chiwetel Etiofor would have for 12 Years a Slave.. Strong, focused performance Best Actress- Had Cate Blanchett not won for Blue Jasmine, Dame Judy Dench might have for Philomena. Another solid performance from the Dame Best Actor in a Supporting Role- Had Jared Leto not won for Dallas Buyers Club,Michael Fassbender would have for 12 Years a Slave as the scary and cruel but insecure slave master. Best Actress in a supporting role- Had Lupita Nyongo not won for 12 years a Slave, Julia Roberts would have for August Osage County.. Feisty performance from the Pretty Woman.. Best Director- Had Alfonso Cuaron not won for Gravity, Steve McQueen would have for 12 Years a Slave.. Tough pick there.. Couldve gone either way Best Original Screenplay- Had Spike Jonze not won for Her, Craig Borten (a Philly native) would have.. He had both actors win for Lead Actor and Supporting.. And now for some other awards and (not so) awards: Best Speech that sounded more like a motivational speech- Matthew McConaughey.. The advice to keep chasing yourself 10 years down the road seemed like a self help guide to finding your hero.. Speech that Im surprised I wasnt thanked as well- Cate Blanchett.. Seemed like she thanked everyone possible in the world.. except me Song not needed- Bette Midler singing Wind Beneath my Wings.. We just got done seeing the In Memoriam segment.. We could have gone straight to commercial.. Instead we had to endure Bette singing that old song from Beaches.. Film left out of the Oscars- Blue is the Warmest Color: French film about a lesbian relationship featuring an amazing performance from Adele Exarchoupulos Awkward moment- Kim Novak trying to speak Another awkward moment- Sidney Poitier trying to speak Painful moment- Seeing Kim Novaks plastic surgery on her cheeks Presenter I didnt think was gonna make it- Harrison Ford.. Ole Indiana Jones was struggling through his summary of Dallas Buyers Club.... Moment when I thought she was gonna break out into a Good Fellas routine- Jennifer Lawrence as she came out to present the Best Actor asking someone what are you laughing at?? Whats so funny?? (Funny how? Like Im a clown? Im here to amuse you?).. Dancers most likely to become future Salseros- The 2 cute little kids dancing during Pharells Happy One more awkward moment- Ellen Degeneres pointing out that Liza Minella was actually a male impersonator And finally, women at the Oscars that looked pretty.. pretty good- Amy Adams, Naomi Watts, Lupita Nyongo, Emma Watson, Anne Hathaway, Sandra Bullock Jennifer Garner, Angelina Jolie, Penelope Cruz, Matthew McConaugheys wife Camila Alvez, the wife/girlfriend of Alfonso Cuaron and..
