Our 1st Food Science program was a success! 10 teens learned about Triboluminescence by smashing candy into pieces. When smashed, Wint-O-Green mints will spark. This effect happens with most hard candies, but is easily seen in Wint-O-Green mints because of the ingredient that gives them their minty flavor. Check out this link to learn more about the project.
