Our Beef (Black Angus) is humanely raised in Southwest Michigan. Our family farm raises FREE-RANGE beef with NO anti-biotics, growth hormones, or steroids. These cattle are born locally and raised on our farm. They are grass fed in our pasture also eat home grown hay and grain (Corn and Oats mix) that is also grown locally. The grain and age of the cattle are essential to the tenderness and how the beef tastes.. We have it processed at our local butcher shop where you can speak directly to the butcher and tell them exactly how you would like it divided. Then you can either pick it up directly from the butcher or we can work out alternate means of getting it to you. How many pounds of beef will I receive? Quarter Beef (hanging) carcass weighs about 200 Lbs. of beef Half Beef(hanging) carcass weighs about 400 Lbs. of beef A whole beef (hanging) carcass will yield about 800 Lbs. of beef. *While beef is dry aged about 2% shrinkage will occur with your meat. Also, some bones and extra fat are removed during processing. Typically, about 25-35% is "thrown away" meaning bones and fat are removed when the processor begins cutting the carcass. This 25-35% is referred to as a cutting loss. How much freezer space do I need? One cubic foot of freezer space will hold approximately 30 Lbs. of beef.
