Our Christmas dinner this year was such fun! And it provoked a bit of introspection. The 0-6 months-ish after turning 40 last summer sparked a whole lot of looking back, re-telling and tweaking my own origin stories to myself and those close to me as a way of understanding how it is that Ive found myself here and now. I worried excessively that I had missed chances along the way. About a year ago I started to look around as well. I made changes, some cosmetic and some not, to test out my capacity to switch directions. I think I was testing whether Id be able to take chances as they come along. (Starting to run regularly is an example.) Then this past fall into winter, I began to lift my head and peak forward a bit. And it feels good! I think thats where I am now: cozy in my own skin, in charge of my narratives, grateful to be where I am right now, and curious about the road ahead. Happy 2015!
