Our Director, Prof. Suresh Mony was invited by DELL to give a talk on ‘The rising emphasis of CSR in India, on June 24, 2014. His talk dwelt on the concept of CSR, its evolution in India and the world, the different types of CSR activities. CSR vis-à-vis Business Strategy and implementing the CSR strategy was one of the cornerstones of his talk wherein he took the audience through the various steps involved in the process and highlighted examples of Indian companies and MNCs who have made a notable contribution in the field. Prof Suresh Mony also highlighted the sensitisation that students at NMIMS, Bangalore receive through the ‘We Care’ program and the course on ‘Çommunity Awareness and Responsibility as an Executive’(CARE) that is dovetailed with the field work with NGOs in ‘We Care’’. The talk was very well received and the feedback from Dell was that it was an eye-opener in many ways as it covered the antecedents to CSR in India and effectively articulated the past, present, and the future of CSR in India.
