Our Financial Crimes section has recently seen a new trend that the public should be aware of. The scam involves a person seeking home health care for a child who is coming to Wichita. The suspect sends a check to the victim and instructs them to buy something for the child, such as a wheelchair. The check is for more than the purchase price of the item and the suspect wants the excess returned on green dot or other pre-paid cards.
