Our James C. Yerxa Nature Preserve is a beautiful example of the rich Silver Maple floodplain forest of the lower St. John River, an ecosystem which is poorly represented in protected natural areas throughout New Brunswick. On Saturday June 7 at 8:30 am, Tumblehome Paddlers, along with a NTNB guide, will be leading a paddle beginning at Yerxa downstream on the St. John River to our Sugar Island Nature Preserve in celebration of National Paddling Week (Canada). This event requires registration to participate in this event. Personal equipment is an asset; however there will be the option to rent equipment at the Small Craft Aquatic Centre before the paddle.
