Our Journey from JCI 2 BACC When we first charted the waters of activism and citizen initiatives it started with JCI Lesotho, we had a burning passion to make a difference. There was support from mentors and many other friends and it was this support that aided our foray into a world we hadn’t the courage to step in before, networking. And interestingly it began with the idea to start community work which landed us working in JCI Lesotho and what a WONDERFUL EXPIRIANCE, summarised in short it was a learning carve which made us, having to step out of our comfort zone was a step in a learning. And the tiger campaigns we took in JCI had us driven by an unexplainable passion to network with the community, create awareness and make a positive change! Interacting with the local community during the public participation process, projects we undertook in the city of Maseru were first instrumental in connecting us to the large citizenry, community issues opened us up to grassroots work and a direct interface with the rest of the community at large. Writing skills, and how to best track our initiatives and projects implementations from JCI first work shop was our first wake up call. Consequently ideating citizen initiatives soon followed despite the scepticism that surrounded us as humans then, we ware consumed by this restless passion to feed our ideas to impact community positively, strengthened by the little successes the initiatives brought to us in particular JCI project Light of Mejametalana. What also worked immensely was to constantly listen to the positive voices that supported many of our ideas in particular the then National President, he helped us reach our potential as a team. Our personal overview leading into BACC Every experience proved that community and people held the key to effect positive change and that governments really do little and often love to ride the feel good wave with no contribution or commitment to take it to the next level and help community accrue maximum benefits. We therefore realised that we needed and aggressive approach with innovations that typified the youth days of 2day. BACC was Born.
