Today the message at church was about greed. My Pastor said that greed is hard to see in yourself. (Serious paraphrasing of Mark 10:17–26) Jesus once spoke to a wealthy man who since he was a child had followed all the laws. The man wanted to go to heaven and asked Jesus what he had to do to get there. Jesus told him to sell everything he owned, give the money to the poor, and follow him. The man left and was grieved because he was very rich. Jesus then used the phrase that it is easier to make a camel go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. This man thought he was good, he had followed the rules, but didnt want to give over his wealth. Maybe it is because wealth gives us security as my pastor said. But the question that provoked me the most was when my pastor asked, who are you apart from your stuff/money? This got me thinking, what am I wrapped up in that if I lost it I would be destroyed? And is that thing doing Gods work? Then it got me thinking about +Chris Brogans email this morning. Telling our customers stories. Who are we without our followers? Their stories are our successes. How we help the people who use our products are the stories we should be telling. This was a round-a-bout way of saying, everything I read ends up speaking to me about everything else that I am working on. If you are not reading or listening to others, you might be missing out on your next big thing. If a company only tells you how great they are over and over we tend to think of them as a really spoiled child. They must back up their claims but not with more facts about their product but rather with witness testimony (like in court). It means more coming from someone who has actually used the product, they become the eye-witness testimony. Who would you call to be your witness. Who has used your product or service that can vouch for you and your business?
