Our Latest TripAdvisor Review “A second visit to Sawrey House Hotel” It is two years since our last visit to this hotel: theres a new chef and a new general manager, although David, the owner is around much of the time. Nic (new manager) is really friendly, helpful and welcoming. There are a couple of nice improvements since our last visit; the food is even better (it was always good though); evening dining has moved into what was the lounge and is candlelit - really nice. This is not pub food (which can be obtained up the road) and should not be compared with such. We stayed for six nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We stayed four nights in the Grizdale room which is front facing with fantastic views and two nights in room 11(top of house) which is rear facing and looks across a few village cottages to the fells beyond. We would say room 11 lacked drawer storage space and would be less suitable for the longer stays; bathroom is also quite small. Grizedale is one of the the best rooms in house. There seemed to be three menus on rotation, each with three or four choices for starters, mains etc. - so enough choice for our six night stay. The lamb dish probable rates as one of the best we have had anywhere. Unclemorrt54 - Nottingham
