Our Mother of Perpetual Help Saint Bernard speaks of Mary as a “lifeboat.” She is a lifeboat that will save us from the shipwreck of eternal damnation. Mary is like the Ark in which Noah escaped the Flood. But she can rescue far more than his Ark did. Only a few people and a few animals were brought to safety in his lifeboat.
