Our Scripture for the week is Psalm 119:29; “…keep me far from every wrong: help me, undeserving as I am, to obey your laws, for I have chosen to do right.…” My biggest problem is me (my flesh.) It’s the part of me that probably didn’t get saved! It will work against us constantly, and seek to drag us down. That’s why Paul said, “Put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh.” You may say, “That’s very demanding!” But I say, “That’s very protective!” In ancient times when a king conquered a city he ruled it. But when he ruled it, he also protected it. What he didn’t rule…he didn’t protect. If we will check the areas of our lives where we are living in defeat or can’t seem to get victory over certain things, they are probably the things we are keeping and trying to handle instead of giving them to Jesus and letting Him take care of them. He is not ruling in those areas, hence we are not protected there. Let’s give them all to His Kingship! Two brothers were known as the two most horrible men that had ever lived. When one of them died, the other said to the minister, “If you preach my brother’s funeral and call him a saint, I’ll give you a thousand dollars.” The minister agreed to it. At the funeral as the minister was standing next to the casket, he said, “This man was a dope fiend, a murderer, a thief, and a terrible scoundrel…but compared to his brother standing here, he was a saint!”
