Our Travel and Tourism students recently travelled to London to familiarise themselves with the Industry and gather evidence for one of their units. To help with independent travelling, public transport was used, with the students taking the train from High Wycombe to South Ruislip and changing onto the Underground. Attractions included Hyde Park, Big Ben and the London Eye. Then it was onto the Thames Clipper towards North Greenwich to see the Emirates Aviation Experience and Air Line cable car. Students enjoyed the aviation experience by using the interactive technology available and watched the process an aircraft goes through when it lands and how it is prepared again for take-off. At each attraction, students discussed the primary products (such as trees and grass), secondary products (cafes, restaurants and information centre) and additional products (boat ride, parking, cloakroom, prayer room, stage for performance) found there. It was fascinating to see how the students got involved and took photographic evidence for their assignments.
