Our ability to unite as the great country we are is what the terrorists could not have anticipated. In the face of adversity, we do not falter and fall to our knees. There is no greater force on earth than that of an America united. In countries where terrorism is a daily reality, acts of terrorism can divide, conquer, and crush an entire people. Not in America. Not in the land of the free and home of the brave. Not in the land of the free BECAUSE OF the brave. Despite our many flaws as a nation, our spirit as a people is resilient and infallible. Today we remember the lives suddenly lost at the hands of terrorists. We also remember the lives gladly given that day, as brothers and sisters rushed to rescue those who otherwise, mightve never made it down. Mere minutes after the attacks, our attackers had accomplished exactly the opposite of what they had intended. Rather than a broken America weeping in a pile of ash and burning steel, they, like so many of us would turn on their TVs and see the sleeping giant come roaring to life.
