Our claim to the authority and inspiration of scripture is not a claim to the authority and inspiration of our interpretation and application of scripture. To equate the two we must either 1) assume we have direct access to the text and its meaning without bias, or 2) assume that we have a level of illumination that those who interpret differently dont have. In the first, we deny our bias. In the second, we make our bias to be scripture itself.
