Our colleagues working to save red wolves in North Carolina could use our help if you dont mind to take a second to send an email. Background: Coyote hunting was made legal in North Carolina last year. The issue is that coyotes also share the same habitat as endangered red wolves, and unfortunately it is very difficult to tell them apart at night, resulting in the death of endangered animals. As a result of a lawsuit filed by the Red Wolf Coalition, federal courts have ruled to halt coyote hunting in the five county red wolf recovery area for 6 months. As a result, the NC Wildlife Resources Commission (WRC) must make changes to their existing coyote hunting rules, which also requires them have to have a public comment period. To help show support for the ban on hunting in the area where red wolves are trying to make a comeback, please consider sending an email stating that you approve of the proposed coyote hunting ban in the area. All you need to do is send an email with the subject line “coyote rule change” and state that they are in support of the proposed rule changes.
