Our country has already become quite dehumanised by this - TopicsExpress

Our country has already become quite dehumanised by this Sociopathic Government. I see increasing levels of prejudice & paranoia in all sectors of society, including professionals and those running our social institutions. The various Social and Community services are being so cut back that those remaining are under insurmountable demands and stress. There will be less time to deal with crises until they have reached a critical level, sometimes beyond the point of repair. What has been callously implemented to save money will in fact cause so much damage that productivity will fall and the numbers of people going into crises of one kind or another will increase dramatically, reducing economic demand. This is a time of Survival of the Fittest - Red in Tooth and Claw; just like the Right Wing Tories and all other Fascist love. No longer the Survival of the Best Fitted; those who are able to cooperate and share in a common humanity. When this Government talks of Aid to Nations we know they mean supporting Business Interests and throwing in a few Arms and Crumbs. I make no exaggeration when I say that observing and engaging with these services I see increasing levels of panicking, risk averse behaviour and emotional shut-down. To all intents and purpose our culture has become mentally sick; paranoid, delusional and most worrying of all, self absorbed and sociopathic in character. These are all the signs of the fall, as has been seen so many times throughout our human history. I fear that it is too late to turn things around. Only the fall of this Government and installation of a true coalition can possibly halt this collapse. Otherwise it will mean building things from the rubble up. The amount of personal and social distress, institutional abuse and systems failure coming to my notice in now overwhelming. Too much for us to keep up with. I am sure that is the same with many statutory and voluntary services and professionals in all areas of social & community support, from health through social care to the emergency services. In order to help others maintain their physical, psychological, emotional and social health it is essential the Professionals and other Providers are able to maintain their own holistic health. In order to avoid clients becoming dependent, we have to avoid the service providers becoming Institutionalised and worn down in their approach. Sadly, the skeleton crew left on duty is barely able to deal with the most critical emergencies, most others are being turned away in increasing numbers and being lost. Unfortunately, the adverse conditions that have deprived us of adequate personnel to provide the safety-net has also deprived us of many experienced volunteers, now surviving for themselves and their families. This was so avoidable, but I fear that too few are engaged in this fight to stop the rot, all we can no hope to do is to accelerate the collapse and pick up the pieces and rebuild anew.
