“Our culture values independence and isolation far too much, it seems to me--we have a hard time making ourselves part of things, of making ourselves responsible to others, and trusting others to be there for us. Sure, theres pain involved if we get hurt, but theres far more pain in isolation. I love community because God gave us other people to live with, not to pull away from, and I learn so much from others that I cant imagine my life without the learning Ive gained from getting to know other people.” ― Tom Walsh I am grateful for the influence of many people in my life, and I hope I have made an impact upon others in some ways. The most painful thing I could imagine would be living in a state of solitude impervious to the influence or thoughts of others. Maybe I am introspective thinking about the girls leaving, but when I ponder what I want my later years to be like, I do not want to be isolated and think that means Im free when thats really a prison. I want to get out there and positively influence everyone I can individually. That is how I intend to live.
