Our editorial on the NDPs failure to take a principled, and - TopicsExpress

Our editorial on the NDPs failure to take a principled, and politically expedient, position against the indiscriminate slaughter of 1,400 Gazans was making the rounds today. It coincided by chance with the occupation of Paul Dewars office by a dozen of his constituents, who were demanding the NDP take a stand against the Israeli bombardment and invasion of Gaza. I understand that I have NDP friends who wont like it, but dont shoot the messenger. Mulcair is pissing in the eye of his base on this one, and theyre angry whether we write about it or not. Our political spectrum has shifted so far to the right in the past twenty years that we cant see centre anymore. I dont think anyone in this country benefits from the NDP becoming indistinguishable from the Liberals (as they are indisputably becoming on policy). And I dont think Mulcair has a chance in a popularity contest with Trudeau, devoid of real policy. So for the sake of the party, for the sake of the country and for the sake of a real goddamn debate will the NDP go back to standing for something? I miss feeling that there was a party which represented some vague facsimile of my principles.
