Our first foray into the Grey Games competition was held at the Sun Inn in Ulverston, an ideal venue. The friendly welcome from Ulverston Rotary belied their steely approach to the 5 disciplines but as it turned out we were more than a match for them. We had mixed fortunes on the carpet i.e. coming up short both in the Putting and the Bowls. Great victories were then achieved in the Pool and Dominoes which evened up the match. This left the final Darts game to play and which turned out to be the match decider. A hush descended on the room as the match unfolded, with the final double in the final leg proving to be particularly elusive therefore nearest the bull was agreed to decide the match. Even then it was close but due to the obvious skill of our player, we emerged victorious overall on the night. Thanks must go to our valiant team members of, and in no particular order, Ron D, Wilf, Terry, Eric, Sean, David C and Mike! A good evening of friendship and Rotarian fellowship was rounded off by very welcome chips and sandwiches.
