Our fundamental right to LIFE & LIBERTY takes a backseat to judges RIGHT TO ENJOY HOLIDAYS. Judges all over India are currently in holiday mood. From first-week October till mid-January, court calendars are full of religious festivals. The Supreme Court has holidays for six months in a year -- a world record. High Courts work a bit more. Lower courts work even more -- for about eight months a year. Let us be grateful for that! So, heres wishing our judges, lawyers etc. a very Happy New Year. The question is, can they look litigants and undertrials in the eye and wish them the same? Because, for every judge who enjoys Christmas holidays with his friends and family, there are hundreds of undertrials spending additional time in lockup, away from their families.
