Our hearts are so heavy today as we have experienced a first. We have lost a puppy due to a tragic accident. A common experience for breeders; nonetheless, heart wrenching. When you have mom with younger puppies, they are protective - as they should be. The irony is that they kill their innocent puppies while in the process of protecting them. It is a cruel reality. As Emma lay in her box sleeping with the puppies, something caught her nerve and she jumped up with speed and strength bolting out of her box to warn off any threat (door bell ringing, etc...) and in the process our dear Doctor Dakota was at the mercy of his mothers strength and speed. We ask for your prayers and thoughts for Emma as she is antsy counting and recounting - the number of puppies in her whelping box does not make sense to her. We are doing our best to keep her distracted but content while trying not to let our heavy hearts spill onto her. Dakota did not suffer long and we prayed as his innocent little spirit left us. RIP sweet little boy. Everyone hug their doodle extra tight tonight for us!
