Our house is such a wreck from all the projects, we are both about to lose it. We are OCD types who like order. So were in a frenzy of organization. After 9-11, I did as I was told by the media and packed up a box of emergency supplies -- hand-cranked radio, batteries, medical supplies, duct tape, hygiene items, safety pins, large trash bags, etc. After so many years, we took it down and Im replacing expired items. We were just discussing what else to put in and realized we are talking about an emergency we cant imagine. Will we be able to stay at the house? (If so, I neednt pack Immodium. I am sure we will be so terrified by the imaginary emergency, we will all have rampant diarrhea). This reminds me of when we bought cases of the very best face masks after reading about the bird flu which was going to wipe us all out. They gather dust in the attic. Our girls have always made fun of us for our Boy Scout mentality -- be prepared for anything. We live near two nuclear plants, so I have pills we will all need to take to keep from getting thyroid cancer. Bob cleaned out his backpacking/hiking closet recently and found 7 survival kits I had given him! Now that I have gone public, I know we will have hordes of you knocking down the doors to get in and get our pills and medical supplies and face masks when the disaster we cant even imagine strikes.
