Our house was sold this morning, and that is good. Unfortunately, I lost my temper last night over a $250 administrative fee added on top of the 6% of the gross sale price payable to my listing agent, which appeared on the settlement document. In all fairness, the agent reluctantly waived the surcharge after I raised holy hell over it. He (no names) thinks that I was wrong to protest the surcharge, payable to him. I think that the agent was wrong to sock me with an additional fee on top of the 6% he was already getting for a less than exemplary effort to sell my house quickly and for the best price. Both selling time and sale price would have been better had my agent done a better job with the photos and description contained in the listing. His $250 administrative fee surprise just before closing pissed me off. ------- I would really like to hear all opinions on this, even if you think I was wrong.
