Our intellect is what sets us apart from animals and yet it is the first thing that goes out the window when we get angry which makes us act like animals. The way to avoid being reactionary is to think and reflect. When you start analyzing the consequences of your behavior, thinking about being mindful and reflecting on role models you would like to emulate, you press the pause button and allow yourself time for reflection. Just by thinking you avoid massive problems and slow down your impulsive reactions. Next time you get angry stop and REFLECT!
