Our last Birthday tribute is for the legendary Sam Cooke. He was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, on this date in 1931. He was a Gospel singer with The Soul Stirrers who became one of the pioneers of Soul music. He showed that he was as equally talented as a composer, as he was a singer. He founded both a record label and a publishing company as an extension of his careers as a singer and composer. He also took an active part in the Civil Rights Movement.[ Wikipedia]. On December 11, 1964, at the age of 33, Cooke was fatally shot by Bertha Franklin, the manager of the Hacienda Motel in Los Angeles, California. After an inquest, the courts ruled Cookes death to be a justifiable homicide. Since that time, the circumstances of his death have been consistently called into question by Cookes family and his wide circle of friends and acquaintances. A tragic death to such a great talent. But, we are here to celebrate his music. We begin our Birthday tribute, to Sam Cooke, with Just For You . https://youtube/watch?v=8hobJIbGXc4&list=PL-aVCoKV6XpVBqsHTvRhrlg0SOhJlisQ_
