Our loving heavenly Father is an expert in bringing different people together & unite them into one body. In some ways, God aims to do this in marriage, but especially in church (1 Corinthians 12:12-14). One of the keys in avoiding or resolving conflict effectively is to identify and accept our differences. One part of the body is not better or worse than another; it’s just different. Trying to make our husband or wife think and behave like us (or to fit our image of what it should be like) never works. Similarly, it doesn’t work in church between the different parts of the body of Christ. Christian spirituality is one that is lived out in this diverse body of Christ, not separate from it. In 1 Corinthians 12:15-31, the apostle Paul outlines how this spirituality of the body of Christ should respond to 2 great threats: those who feel inferior & those who feel superior.
