Our national capitals (Saddi Dillis) little ones or then young - TopicsExpress

Our national capitals (Saddi Dillis) little ones or then young ones are certainly doing the national capital proud and heartily underlining the inalienable fact that Delhi does indeed have a golden heart........ Though this piece might seem somewhat dated and jaded,(it began on January 29,2014) its appeal and message is certainly timeless and worthy of emulation........ Putting paid to the largely held belief about Dilwaalon Ki Dilli having lost its heart and soul for eternity, three, or rather a group of schoolchildren more than willingly stepped forward and saved the life of a total stranger by lifting him and subsequently pushing him into the very same auto that had callously knocked him down and then pushing it towards the nearest hospital......... 27 year old Devender Kumar Dubey was left profusely bleeding and bones that had broken through his skin were protruding from his left ankle thanks to the auto that had unceremoniously knocked him down from his cycle at around 1:45 pm on the afternoon of January 29, 2014......... This grotesque incident occurred in the middle of an extremely busy street right in the heart of South Delhis posh and prosperous Saket area and sticking to the time tested script, the auto driver at fault took to his heels after pocketing the keys of the errant vehicle....... Luckily for Dubey, seven (7) class nine (9) students from the Veer Chander Singh Garhwali Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya happened upon the spot as they had contrived to miss their school bus and were looking for a lift......... These plucky seven stopped in their tracks as soon as they came across a semi conscious Dubey lying in a rapidly spreading pool of his own blood; they made valiant efforts to hail down a passing car, but these valiant efforts came to naught as every passing motorist preferred to turn a blind eye to the rather sorry predicament and situation...... They however did not loose hope and plunge into despair, rather they kept their collective wits about them and performed a near miracle; they lifted the victim and placed him within the auto, two of them commandeered the handle of the auto and kept navigating it in a seemingly straight direction........ While the rest of them focussed their collective might on pushing the auto from behind and lo and behold they covered the one odd kilometre distance to the super speciality MAX hospital in a little over 20 minutes or so......... Without a rupee between the seven of them, they did not stop with wheeling Dubey into the hospital but waited there until he was duly admitted to the hospital and whisked away into an operation theatre.......... After multiple surgeries and a rather lengthy convalescence period, Dubey who is gainfully employed as an attendant in the ICU of the very same hospital was finally discharged from the hospital some ten days back or so and only shared the inspiring tale of these good samaritans with local news channels and newspapers on Friday (March 14, 2014)......... Busy with their annual examinations until Monday (March 17,2014), one of the countrys leading English dailies managed to track down one of the intrepid seven.......... Recalling the fateful incident in graphic detail, Prashant Kumar 15 remarked we saw the auto knock him down, but it was all so sudden and abrupt that the driver made off before we could even begin to chase him down....... We then came across this Bhaiyya whose condition seemed to be critical, he was bleeding profusely from his numerous wounds and we could see bones jutting out of the skin in his left ankle region, we then proceeded to hail down one of the hundreds of cars that were whizzing past, but alas not one of them did deign to stop.......... We collectively came to the conclusion that pushing the auto towards the nearest hospital and luckily for us Bhaiyya mentioned the name of MAX hospital in a feeble and croaking voice before lapsing into unconsciousness........... Luckily for us the said MAX hospital was only about a kilometre or so away from the accident spot and we managed to steer the auto there in about 20-25 minutes or so, Prashant signs off.......... Dr. VGR Shastri senior consultant in the emergency ward says, I was rather taken aback when I saw an auto being pushed into our compound by these school kids; I immediately rushed out and was confronted with the sorry sight of one of our staffers lying in a pool of blood with bones jutting out of his left ankle, in fact, saying that the lower one third of Dubeys left leg was attached to the rest of his persona by mere shreds of skin would be a more appropriate description, the good doctor signs off........... All one can say in conclusion is that children are indeed living manifestations of all that is divine and godly and that we certainly need to take a leaf out of their books and learn how to serve the rest of humanity without waiting for an acknowledgement or wondering whether the injured person is a loved one or total stranger.......... ,
