Our new Bird of the Week is probably conk-la-ree-ing in a patch of cattails near you. These gleaming black birds with their red-and-yellow epaulets are one of the most numerous birds in North America. The males return to marshes earlier than the females, which are so different looking—streaky and brown—that they almost look like a different species. Have you seen Red-winged Blackbirds recently?
