Our own Kristin Bauer spent the weekend in Washington, D.C., accepting awards from Photographer of the Year International. She received a first place award in the college category for her photographs highlighting a woman and her family sharing their quest to move out of public housing, and she received a second place award in the college category for a portrait of the womans son from the same series. While there, she got to peruse the Newseum, which is all about newspapers over the years, and found an edition of The Chronicle from the 1970s alongside the Washington Post. Kristin was an intern when she took her award-winning pictures; shes now a full-timer and we are glad she is on our team.
