Our sixth intern will start June 1, and then the whole Fellow Mortals Summer Family will be complete:) The first group of squirrels--over 120 in number--is being weaned and some will soon move out to the large Squirrel Condo. The second wave of Cottontail rabbits is in the process of release--with 26 experiencing life in the wild for the first time tonight! And new patients continue to arrive steadily for care, including the newest goslings. One baby was attacked by a hawk and suffered spinal trauma, but is now standing and starting to walk with a special orthopaedic shoe. The other suffered a fractured leg, which was pinned by Dr. Scot Hodkiewicz. The two will heal together and then join one of our wonderful foster geese for the rest of their stay with us.
