Our society does not empower boys or men to express their sadness in a constructive way, and instead encourages them to suppress their feelings. Many of them believe suicide is the only escape from their pain. A friend of my sons lost someone close to him to suicide this Christmas Eve. Instead of wallowing in his misery, he did what he does best; express himself through film-making. His piece entitled, LIFE, illustrates the pain we all feel at one time or another. I encourage everyone to share this message of hope. You may just help someone who needs to know they are not alone.
