Our week with Grammy Gram - spend Sunday afternoon at her cabin - TopicsExpress

Our week with Grammy Gram - spend Sunday afternoon at her cabin enjoying the lake with Paige. She had been feeling tired and a little off the past few weeks. She began to feel worse and decided to come home. On her way home she was getting sicker. We took her to urgent care and they called an ambulance and sent her to CMC ER with 102 fever. There they ran tests (x-rays, blood work, MRI, CAT Scans, etc) until Tuesday trying to determine the origin of her infection. She continued to get worse with the fever and then started having breathing problems. Tuesday night we had her transferred to Geisigner in Danville. She was originally admitted into a special care unit and reevaluated and treated with a variety of antibiotics. She was diagnosed with a strain of Bacterial Pneumonia in her right lung. This Pneumonia was producing a thick infectious fluid in and outside her lung and was not responding to antibiotics. Wednesday night it became very difficult for her to breath even with the in-room oxygen. This labor breathing began to take a toll on her heart and blood pressure and she was transferred into the ICU where they incubated and sedated her and set her up with a variety of meds to control heart, blood pressure and infection. We had to have a tube inserted to begin draining the infectious fluids from her body. Unfortunately her body went into shock and we had a very scary 24 hours. Finally on Friday morning she turned the corner and her body began responding to the antibiotics. She remains in ICU but is so much better. Today they began weaning her off equipment and heavy duty meds. They hope to remove the vent tomorrow morning and get her back into a regular room. She is a fighter and she has a long road in front of her to completely recover. But we will work with the hospital and get her back home one day next week. They will not release her until the infection is completely gone and she works with physical therapy to regain her strength. Thank you everyone for you prayers and well wishes. She has her family has rallied around her and we have made it out of the woods. Praise the Lord!!!
