Out Liners (episode 1) Written By: #ADEDAMOLA SAMSON It was a friday afternoon when Sbusiso Ntuli,a 24 year old guy from Soshanguve took a walk down the road to get himself the freshest sphatlho since he hadnt eaten anything the whole day.He played some music and put on his headsets as he bounced his head to some nice tunes on his way to the fast food shop at the corner.When he got to the shop,he found a very long que that almost made him shout oh modimo!!and on top of that he was informed that he had to wait atleast 15 minutes for the chips to get ready which made things worse.Sbus grumbling stomach couldnt wait that long so he decided to go and check at the other nearby shop.He put his headsets back on and continued with his walk as he sang along to the music that he was listening to.It took him more or less a 5 minutes walk in the blazing sun to get to the other shop but when he got arrived there was no que and the chips were already prepared which made him feel like the short walk in the sun was worth it.He ordered the biggest Sphatlho on the menu and as the lady prepared it for him,he walked across the road to get himself a cold can of soda to go with his meal.When he got back his sphatlo was already prepared so he added some sauce and spice then he began to walk back up the road with the sphatlho in his one hand and the Soda on the other.After just a few steps,Sbus head began to feel so wierd and his vision became a bit blurry just for about 4 or seconds so he stopped walking and took a deep breath with his eyes closed as the woman from the spatlho shop looked at him wondering what was going on.He took another deep breath then he opened his eyes and tried to shake it off by shaking his head.For a few seconds he felt a bit better so he began to walk again but after a few steps he felt worse than the last time.He began to lose his steps as if he was a drunk man trying to keep his balance then out of the blue the sphatlho and soda fell out of his hands.Sbu slowly fell flat on his back and as the lady from the sphatlho shop ran towards him to check if he was okay,his eyes slowly closed then he stopped moving.After just a few seconds the people driving and walking by stopped to check what was going on so everyone else around gathered themselves and watched from a distance.Just as the Sphatlho lady was about to call an ambulace,one of the men who had been watching for a while stopped her and told her that Sbu would be okay.This man also explained to the shocked people that Sbu showed symptoms of hypoglaecemia (low sugar level) which meant that the reason why he fainted was probably because he hadnt eaten anything so he had no energy in his body.The man asked the sphatlho lady to melt 3 spoons of sugar so she did exactly that as two other boys carried him out of the street and into the spatlho ladys yard.Everyone else who was watching went back to their houses and continued with what ever they were doing.The man scooped some of the melted sugar from the Sphatlho ladys pot with his pinky finger then he asked one of the boys to hold Sbus mouth open.When they did so,he carefully rubbed the melted sugar on Sbus gums three times then after 5 minutes Sbu slowly opened his eyes and stood up as if nothing had happened.The first two people that he saw were the two boys that had carried him into the yard.By just looking at them he could tell that they were very worried about even if though they didnt know them.As he turned his head he saw the man who had just given him the melted sugar standing next to the Sphatlho lady.He found it wierd that all of these strangers were so worried about someone that they didnt even know.The two boys suddenly clapped their hands and showed appriciation to the guy who had just helped Sbu then the Sphatlho lady joined them.I really dont know how I can possibly pay you back for what you just did,said Sbu as he expressed a lot of appriciation.Th e man smiled and gave him a tap on the shoulder then he walked away as he said You can pay me back by taking good care of yourself.The Sphatlho lady smiled as she walked back into the kitchen and said You need to eat.Ill make you another Sphatlho.Its free.Sbu gave the two guys who had carried him that street handshake of appriciation but they just smiled at him and said Dont worry about it man.Were just happy youre fine.Sbu. Smiled then he whispers cant I atleast buy you atleast some sphatlhos then well sit here and chat a bit? Please bafwethu.The two guys looked Àt each other then they smiled back and politely responded with a simple Okay then.Sure man.Sbu hurried to the kitchen and asked the lady to make two sphatlhos.The lady allowed them to chill in his yard so they all sat there and began to chat as they enjoyed their Sphatlhos.Thes e two guys introduced themselves to Sbu as Eddy and Pat.They told Sbu about themselves and how they had been best friends since forever.Sbu,Edd y and Pat sat there and enjoyed the chat until it got dark and it was time to go home.Sbu exchanged numbers and contacts with his new friends then they went their seperate ways..Even though Sbu knew that he had found himself some good friends,there was a lot that he didnt know about them. For example,Sbu didnt know much about their backgrounds.He didnt know that the reason why Eddy and Pat were best friends was because they were very different from each other in every way.Eddy lived with a single and poor mom in a 3 roomed shacked while on the other hand Pat lived with his rich dad in a very huge house.As poor as Eddy was,he was the best when it came to school books.You could say he was on that natural intelligence kind of tip.He was business minded and he sure had very powerful ideas.Pat on the other hand wasnt very good when it came to academics infact he had already repeated the same grade 3 times.As different as Eddy and Pat were,they understood each other very well which kept them real loyal friends.After that day,Sbu became the new member of this very good frienship since the two guys accepted him with open arms.These 3 became so close that they even began to reffer to each other as brothers.They were a combination of brains (Eddy),money (Pat) and magic tongue (Sbu)..... 1 year later Eddy had just finished putting together a very powerful business plan that would make them millionaires.He had just completed a very big business plan that was good enough to turn South Africas economy into an economical power house but one thing was missing from the picture.This business plan of theirs needed a lot of money and there was only one possible investor that they had access to.PATS FATHER...Eddy and Sbu asked Pat to set up a meeting with his dad where they would propose and present their business idea to him.In a way,Sbus connection with Eddy was slowly beginning to become stronger then the connection that Pat and Eddy had before Sbu stepped into the picture and this was caused by the passion that Eddy and Sbu had for their business plan.Even though Pat was a bit jealous he managed to set up a meeting with his father for them.Since Sbu was the one with the magic tongue,he presented the idea to Pats father in a way that made him feel like he was about to become a billionaire.Pat s father was blown away and impressed with their idea from the word go,to an extent that when Eddy and Sbu left,Pat had to listen to his father talking about how clever his friends were which raised Pats jealousy to its highest level.When Pat woke up the next morning,he found a note on top of a black bag next to his bed.Dear son.I didnt want to wake you up.I had to fly to The U.S.A for a very important business meeting this morning.Ill be back in 3 days.In this suitcase there is enough money for the business plan that your friends proposed and presented.You chose perfect friends my son.Im proud of you boys.Take this money and make your dreams come true.I trust you.See you in three days.Pat opened the bag and saw more stacks of money than he had ever seen in his entire life.This made his blood boil with anger and jealousy since his father had never in his life taken him as serious as he did Eddy and Sbu.Later when Eddy and Sbu came to his place they found him sitting outside as if he had already been waiting for them.Eish.Im sorry guys.Said Pat as he bowed his head with fake shame.What are you sorry about??Aske Eddy.My dad didnt like your presentation.In fact he said I should tell you never to waste his time like that again.Im so sorry guys.Youll find another investor.Those words went deep into Eddy and Sbus hearts but Eddy winked at him and politely said dont worry about it boy.Well get someone else some day.Atleast we tried.As they sat there silently with disappointment and heart break glowing in their eyes,Eddy stood up and told them he was going to the toilet.When he got into the house,something caught his eye.There were bags of clothes at the passage as if someone was moving out.He curiously went down the passage and went into Pats room.When he got into the room,he saw a bag next to Pats bed with a note on top.He red the note and couldnt believe what he was reading.He was confused,asking himself why his best friend would lie like that.He put the letter into his pocket then he took a deep breath.He slowly zipped the bag open and saw the multiple stacks of money.He covered his mouth with his one hand then as he stood there he heard Pat behind him whispering It wasnt supposed to be like this..He got a fright and turned around then........As Sbu sat outside and watched the beautiful garden...HE HEARD R GUN SHOTS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE .........
