Out On The Pike YAAAWWWWNNNNN.... you know you want too! Sunday, March 23, 2014 Another night of interrupted sleep and waking up with a migraine. One of those with photo-phobia. They arent much fun. Well, the dogs have been out, the cats have been fed, and Ive already got coffee. Im still not ready to face the day just yet. In case you are wondering, the cats were pretty dog gone nice to me last night. It was the dogs that were the problem. Even though Mary usually, but not always, takes care of them they still woke us both. Have you ever watched you pets get up from sleeping? The very first thing they do after they wake up is stretch out. That prepares them for movement. What do most of us do? Wake up all bleary eyed, get up on wobbly legs and crash into the wall or door frame on the way to the bathroom. Maybe thats just me, but I dont think that is the case. Maybe what I am trying to say is that we could all take a lesson from the animals. It really does help to do the stretches before doing much movement, especially any kind of exercise. From the porch: Its 30f/-1c out there. The sky is heavily overcast and you can barely see the light of the moon behind it. You can forget about seeing the stars if you life in our area. The wind is blowing at nine mph and it makes it feel like its in the low twenties. Like yesterday, the air feels damp again today. There was no traffic on interstate seventy this morning or on the pike. Not one single vehicle. Not even a semi truck. I still havent heard anything out there so maybe a lot of folks, including drivers, are sleeping in this morning. Plans for the day: Happy, happy, joy, joy, its laundry day. Doing laundry is not one of my favorite things to do, its just another one of those necessary evils we all have to contend with occasionally. Other than that I dont believe we have any plans for the day. We took care of most of that yesterday. For me this will be a day of contending with a migraine. So far its been fairly mild for a migraine and Im praying it stays that way. Ma will probably be crocheting or knitting and watching TV, or she will be on her computer playing a crime game like CSI or playing solitaire. Books and movies: We have a free weekend of Encore and Showtime TV stations. One of the stations has the old westerns on it like Gun smoke, Bat Mastterson, Wyatt Earp, and more. It was good to see them but I didnt hog the TV, weve watched several different shows. We also got to watch “Saving Mr. Banks” the new Tom Hanks movie. The actors did their parts well, but its not Hanks best performance playing Walt Disney. The movie is about Disney trying to make the deal with P.L.Travers for the rights to make the Mary Poppins movie. Mary Poppins was based on a real person though that was not her name. Most of the movie leaves you wanting to smack Travers and wake her up. Emma Thompson does a fantastic job of portraying her. The last of the movies is the best and makes the movie overall enjoyable. Its well worth a watch. Just hang with it. Music: For you vinyl buffs out there, there is a limited edition of The Doors “Weird Scenes From Within the Goldmine” that will be released on April 19th. They will only be available in record shops. The albums usually sell for $34.99 and up. If your interested call you local record shop and see if they have any on order. It hast to be a record shop. Not a shop that just sells CDs and DVDs. Finally, we havent heard a peep from or about Elizabeth since the fiasco on Tuesday. To be honest we dont expect too. At least we know she is alive and healthy. Her mother has known where shes been the entire time. It leaves little doubt as to why the court took Elizabeth out of her house. There are other reasons as well but I am not going to discuss them. We dont know where she went but she must have some place safe to stay. We are thankful for that. That wraps me up for the day. I dont know what music Im going to post. Well see what comes around I reckon. May your Sunday be a day or peace, rest, and happiness filled with joy and bright blessings! Peace and blessing be with you. namaste
