Out of boredom yesterday I tossed together a super ugly dipole. The directv installer left hundreds of feet of 75 ohm laying around so I felt like experimenting. I found one length around 32 feet long and cut it in half (just short of my calculation for 20m) then soldered the shield to the inner conductor. Soldered this to an SO239 I had laying around (made a quick air choke since I had no balun... I know I know lol) and threw it up in the air... Low and behold I easily worked a station in Lebanon first call with perfect SWR. Oddly enough though it loads up fine on 40M, 20M, 15M, and 10M with some decent contact on all. So what ugly random antennas have you guys/gals built that suprised you?
