Outdoor Recreation Industry Council of NSW Inc The Dept. Education, Employment & Workplace Relations release a 5yr forecast of jobs growth for all Australian occupations. These figures are important as they influence government planning, policy and, often, funding decisions for training. However, in recent conversations with ORIC and industry, Service Skills Australia discovered that the Department’s numbers don’t always reflect industry’s perceptions. Additionally, without an industry context, the numbers can obscure the variations in demand for occupations across different sectors. Given this, Service Skills Australia has designed a simple 5-10 minute survey to gather industry’s views on the likely future demand for service industry occupations. Participation is critical in providing evidence for or against these statistics and to ensure that government policy and planning reflects our industry’s views.
