Over 200 years ago, a small group of freedom fighters fought back against their federal government’s abuses of power. Miraculously, they won, and today we celebrate that victory. Unfortunately, our current federal government has grown larger and more intrusive. Taxes are much higher than the taxes that pushed the founders to revolution. Warrantless search and seizure, a major instigator of the Revolution, is back in the form of the Patriot Act, FISA, and the NDAA. Interference with entrepreneurship through cronyist regulations have surpassed the East India Company’s cronyist monopoly on tea. Simply put: the founders of this country rebelled against much less.
