Over and over last night during the 15th year Anniversary Celebration of my I Can Serve breast cancer sisterhood, I kept lifting heartfelt thanks up above tremendously overwhelmed with what was unfolding before me, to be among my precious, precious sisters..some undergoing recurrence, some still frightened fighting to be brave, some in pain but still smiling and most others clutching at the grace of still being cancer free. Tears, laughter ever changing emotions kept erupting truly ICS Chairman of the Board Libet Virata said it well, we were also I Can Laugh, I Can Eat and certainly, I Can Dance!!! Tight hugs were aplenty as we savored our being survivors!!!! We were just too grateful we had each other. My day started welcoming the almost 50 Cebu Breast Sisters led by my Singapore shopping buddy Me-Anne Salomon, then rehearsed our Supergirl dance number led by sis yoga instructor Nikoy de Guzman. Cebu delegation performed, Marikina Brangay Health Workers also did a dance number, we were wowed and danced more with Ogie Alcacid, Music and Magic...I couldnt help but marvel...all these because our I Can Serve Founder Kara Magsanoc Alikpala lighted that first spark and continues to mother us all with her super Big, Big Heart...Cant thank you enough Kara!!!! Yes, ours is a sisterhood like no other..we always wish there would be no more afflicted, no new members...but to those of us ICS sisters wearing our pink ribbons of hope, we dedicate our continued blessing of waking up to another day by continuing to teach about early detection and help and heal those afflicted.
