Over explaining yourself can get you into hot water. Folks often - TopicsExpress

Over explaining yourself can get you into hot water. Folks often do this for several reasons. Attempting to justify yourself to someone who doesn’t believe you rarely works. Save your breath, because the more you talk, often the less they believe what you say. This is true especially if your track record with that person is already shaky. You’ll need to show them the goods over a period of time in order to change their opinion of you. There is another scenario that happens frequently. People will try to explain what’s going on to somebody who is terminally angry. It doesn’t work. They’re not listening. The best explanation is just citing the necessary facts unless the person you’re talking to wants all the juicy details. Keeping it simple frequently does work a whole lot better than continuing to open your mouth and say something that might cause more rifts in an already strained situation. “He who guards his mouth and his tongue, guards his soul from troubles.” (Proverbs 21:23)
