Over the decades people have made great music. Many were from sheds, spare rooms, flats, bathrooms, etc. - That is how pop music was born. The pirate radio (boats) picked up on this and we started to get the new title DJ appear. These pirate boats were so powerful that after a few years the Government decided to outlaw them as it had an effect on young people. Which in short meant that it would be illegal for young people to listen to pop music and have fun (known as the Devils music). - Young people fought back and the BBC realised that they needed to smooth this out and employed some of the best DJs from the boats, the most well known being Tony Blackburn from radio Caroline who opened Radio 1. This is NOT the BBC giving us a service, its the people demanding it (big difference). From then on we have seen many acts appear from Indie labels getting daytime play who are now Icons in the world of music such as Michael Jackson. Today we have 3 huge corporate companies who have a strangle hold on the music market. It is run by lawyers and accountants. There is also a very sinister side to it which I wont go in to. Indie labels (real ones who are registered) need radio support in order to re-address the balance between the music from the street (which is what makes great artists) and the music from the majors (which is engineered mostly). Its time for a change and I intend to help make it.
