Over the last couple of days I have tried desperately to be able to present my talks at SoliSC, the Free Software Conference in Florianopolis. Unfortunately due to bad communications and some misunderstanding I will not be able to attend the conference, only the third conference that I have committed to and missed over a 44 year career. I have offered to give the talks over the Internet, but I have not had any response from the organizers. I have also given the slides of one of the two talks I was going to give to Douglas Conrad and Lucas Mocellin, and perhaps they can give the talk for me. There is also the chance that the organizers will cancel the talk (or talks), that is their prerogative, their decision. My second talk is a "work in progress" and is also a talk that is difficult to hand off to someone, so either I give it via Internet or I am afraid it would have to be canceled. I apologize to all my friends in Santa Catarina who are going to SoliSC partly to see me (and drink a few beers). Please continue with your plans to SoliSC, as the rest of the scheduled talks also look very good. I hope to see you all at Open Beach openbeach.org.br November 29th to December 2nd.
