Over the last several months you might remember me talking about a 99 year old beautiful woman. She is my 15 year old sons good friends, grandmother. Her grandson was often her driver, her sweet little self in the backseat. She loved taking these boys out on dates. They went to breakfast, lunch, and the boys would even take her to get her hair done. A few weeks ago when they pulled up to my house returning from a date, I walked out to the car. I peeked my head in and asked her if my son behaved. To her response, Caden makes me wish I was young again. (Insert a huge smile here) 99 years old, always showed up to baseball games, basketball games, smelled good, dressed sharp, hair done, nails done, and my favorite....her smile was constant. Over the last several months Ive found so much inspiration, in watching her. Her zest for life, unmatched. People often complain, make excuses, and dont show up in their lives.....but here at 99, she did. Her grandson and his two friends, one of which is my son, were blessed to have experienced the time, laughs, and conversations with this woman. Her advice to them, boys play the field, just dont fumble the ball. Her funeral was yesterday, and when I asked my boy how it went, he smiled from ear to ear and said, mom, when her son was talking about her life, Jack and I were pointed out in the crowd and acknowledged as her last two boyfriends. Beautiful. I am forever inspired by how she lived her life everyday, with grace, and a smile. My son will never forget, the moments spent.
